Roll’d
For those who are after a lighter meal (it’s okay, flying makes me bloated, too) Roll’d is serving up Vietnamese food in a fast food format. We went for the Lemongrass Beef Bun, Roast Pork Banh Mi (complete with crackling), Seafood Spring Rolls, Crispy Chicken Ribs (!!!) and Avocado and Barramundi Rice Paper Rolls.
The food is pretty much what you’d expect of a Vietnamese restaurant chain: not particularly amazing, not particularly bad, but consistent and dependable. I quite enjoyed the Seafood Spring Rolls with their crispy netting shattering with every bite, and the Lemongrass Beef made me feel healthy eating it. The Avocado and Barramundi Rice Paper Roll was a little heavy on the unseasoned rice noodle, but the Crispy Crackling on the Roast Pork Banh Mi was indeed as advertised, which put me back in happy-little-vegemite-land.
Although, I must say that the Banh Mi could use much more sauce on it. It isn’t quite Banh Mi to me unless sauce it practically running down my arm, with creamy mayonnaise squishing out the other side.
