It’s easy to fall into a rut with makeup. Often, I find something that works, and I just keep going back to the same products over and over again, neglecting my ever-growing box of “makeup I’d like to try”. I usually go with gold and peach – all that warm Asian skin tone – and sometimes, stronger colours like Plum remind me of my goth teenage days, never to be repeated.
I burned all the photos for a reason!
I do, however, love a statement lip, and after trying out a couple of lippies in deep plum, I’m absolutely LOVING this everyday Maleficient look. Because villainesses need a little love too!
Freakshow
This eyeshadow that I got as part of the Urban Decay Fun Eyeshadow Palette, and I’ve been absolutely loving it! This deep aubergine colour has some glitter and metallics in it, meaning that you can bring it easily from day to night! I love that out of the other UD single eyeshadows that I have, this one packs on the colour quite effectively – which is awesome, because no one likes a weak plum colour!
Amethyst
It’s not just about the eyeshadow anymore – welcome to the age of the accent eyeliner! The Lancome Artliner in Amethyst glides on easily, and adds a pop of colour without being too in your face. A very pretty way to wear purple, especially when you don’t want to go with the low-key no-makeup look!
Vice
I’ve always been a fan of dark nail polish, and Vice from Urban Decay has me all atwitter! This deep metallic plum adds a dramatic touch, and creates lovely dimensions even with a matt topcoat. It paints on thinly, and dries fairly quickly, meaning that you aren’t sitting around for hours waiting for your nails to dry! I’ve been wearing it lots lately, because there’s just something about a deep matt warm plum that is just so sexy!
Black Dahlia
I’ve been obsessed with Liptar by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics ever since I saw Josh (Petrilude) use it to create rainbow lips. Amazing colours that have insane pigments, and animal cruelty free to boot! I got the Black Dahlia as part of a pack of minis that I got from Sephora, and this dark horse (hehe) is fast becoming my favourite colour.
Venom
The Black Dahlia needs a brush to apply and reapply, and even though the pigment has some serious staying power, I still like to have a little something on me for a touch up. Urban Decay’s Lipstick in Venom is a fantastic match to the Black Dahlia, and the compact tube allows me to easily touch-up the colour without having to lug a brush around too. It’s fairly creamy and moisturising, which is great to prevent flakiness, but also rubs off easily, so I am not as big a fan of using it on its own, but I just LOVE the colour!
