When I was a teenager, I’ve hated my eyes. Well, hate is a strong word, but I’ve always looked at women in magazines and wished that I had those wide, deep set eyes with mesmerising pupils framed by luscious lashes. I’ve since made my peace, but not before thoroughly exploring the world of fake eyelashes.
And I’m happy to announce that falsies are not just for drag queens and women with a penchant for drama. No, they are a permanent part of my beauty arsenal, and if applied correctly, can create a wearable, everyday look, with just a touch of drama. Did I mention that it also goes really well with contouring?
The process is seriously as simple as the pictures! If you truly want to get to expert-level eyelash application, here are some extra tips:
- When trimming the lashes, some people swear by the inner corners or outer corners. I think it’s always important to look at the lashes. I like to trim them from the outer corners mostly, but if they are rounded in the middle, I trim from both ends, just to keep the balance!
- Do wait for the glue to get tacky before pressing it to just above your lash line. If the glue is too wet, it just won’t stick properly and you’ll get glue smeared everywhere.
- Sometimes, the two tips on the ends get loose, so before I leave the house, I sometimes dab the ends with a tiny bit of glue, just to hold it in place.
- To remove the lashes, you can gently wipe over the top with a cotton pad with baby oil, and that will help you ease the glue, and the lashes, off.
