I finally popped my Chur Burger cherry!! After being so incredibly tempted by all the instagram photos of people enjoying good burgers, I finally made it down there myself for a bit of that brioche burger bun action.
The first sight that greeted me when I walked in was a table of people, burgers open, picking out the filling!!! But why? Why would you not want to eat a glossy, buttery brioche bun?
Well, I soon found out myself. At $10 a pop, these burgers may seem ‘lady-sized’, but pack enough of a flavour punch for you manly folk to walk away satisfied. I was so stuffed!
The bun is as buttery as is promised, and the filling is well thought out and balanced for a moreish bite.
Crumb fish fillet, lemon mayo, pickled cucumber, dill, $10
We ordered the fish burger and the beef burger off the lunch menu – no dessert or snacks! *cries* – and they were equally as awesome! The crowning glory of the fish burger (pictured above) was the cucumber pickles. Tart and light, they lifted what might otherwise be a heavy-ish lunch. The beef burger was another pleasant surprise – I’m not usually one for the ol’ beef patty on a bun, but this one was SO ADDICTIVE. Every mouthful was delicious, and I ended up scraping the sauce off the bun because I was so full but wanted to keep eating.
Grilled beef cheese tomato jam, mustard mayo, pickle, $10
Don’t get me wrong, the bun is delicious. But when faced with the possibility of being too full to eat another bite, I’d rather sacrifice one element, and keep eating.
It didn’t help the full-ness situation that we also got a few sides, $5 each.
Sweet potato fries, garlic, lime, $5
The coleslaw (top) was exactly what we needed for a hit of freshness. It wasn’t overly drenched in mayonnaise, but was just creamy enough to moisten the cabbage.
In all, the food was quick, good, and of great value. The service wasn’t the warmest – we did sometimes get the feeling that we weren’t welcome – but that food at that price? We’d go there anyway.
mmm melty cheese!
The sweet potato fries look so crunchy!
They had a crust, but weren’t crispy, unfortunately. The coleslaw was much better.
for $10 you really can’t complain. it’s a solid burger and if it were more accessible to work, i would be there more often than i should be! the beef and fish are my favourites. when raff’s pork belly one was on the menu that hit the ball out of the park!
I don’t mind it here for $10. I love the wings here, I think they are the best.
I agree with Tina. The raff’s pork belly burger was insanely good!
